I never thought that it was very difficult to look for suppliers of coconut shell charcoal in Asajaya. By looking at the number of coconut trees in the the area, it is unthinkable to believe that no one produced coconut shell charcoal in the area.

But that was the answer given to me by an acquaintance.

“Sik da gik orang polah arang di sitok (No one produced the coconut shell charcoal here),” he said when I called him last month.

I made an enquiry after a friend asked me whether I knew someone in Asajaya who could help to introduce him to coconut shell charcoal suppliers.

So, I thought since no one produced the charcoal, it was the end of the story.

However, when I saw my friend was really down with the tidings, I decided to call up one of my relatives in Asajaya as to confirm on the non-existence of the business in the area.

He was surprised when I asked him whether or not it was true that no one produced coconut shell charcoal in the area.

“Banyak sidak di sitok yang molah arang nyiur! (There are many here who produced coconut shell charcoal!!!),” he said.

My relative was right when he claimed that many in Asajaya produced coconut shell charcoal.

After making few visits in the area, I notice that some of them could even produce tonnes of coconut shell charcoal!!!

So, knowing the right person will help to lead to the right solution … !
